Gene Doten was born and raised in Yuma, Arizona. Before entering the world of photography Gene began his love of art through painting and left Yuma for a short while to study his craft in Chicago. After returning to Yuma, Gene was destined to discover the exciting new world of technology and art with his new passion of computer graphics and photography. Gene's background as portrait artist combined with his skill in computer graphics and photography make his work truly stand out above other photographers. Although Gene has been pursuing his passion of photography for over 20 years he is still constantly improving his skills by attending professional photography conventions in California and throughout the United States. Maria Doten is originally from Los Angeles California where she was able to use her artistic talents and love for children, working with at risk youth. After meeting Gene, Maria was able to find a new avenue for her love of people and artistic style. Gene and Maria were married on May 4, 2002 and are now expecting their first child together. Their mutual love for people, art and photography, prompted the inevitable decision for them to pursue their passion full time. Gene's meticulous use of photographic technique such as three-dimensional lighting and dynamic composition blended with Maria's sense of style, psychology, and a color harmony, give their work a unique and distinct style.
